TrueStay Privacy Policy

TrueStay collects:

• A randomly generated user ID stored locally on your device
• Your taste preferences (hotel/restaurant styles, dealbreakers, favorites) that you explicitly provide during onboarding
• Reviews and photos you choose to submit
• A profile photo, if you choose to upload one
• Your search history (city + result count), stored on our servers and cached locally on your device
• Swipe answers in the Taste Match game
• Your email address, if you sign up or sign in with email, Apple, or Google
• Your location, but only when you actively use a feature that needs it (like finding places near you on the map) — this happens only while you're using the app; TrueStay never tracks your location in the background or when the app is closed

TrueStay does NOT:

• Track your location in the background or without your permission
• Sell or share your personally identifiable information (name, email, phone number) with third parties

TrueStay uses trusted third-party services to operate:

• AI providers (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google) analyze your preferences and reviews to generate personalized recommendations — relevant profile and review data is sent to these providers for processing
• Resend delivers account emails (like password resets)
• With your permission, TrueStay may send local reminder notifications (e.g. to play Taste Match)

TrueStay may, now or in the future:

• Show sponsored or promoted placements from hotel, restaurant, and travel business partners within search results and recommendations — always clearly labeled as sponsored, never disguised as an organic recommendation
• Earn a referral commission when you book through a link shown in the app
• Share aggregated, de-identified insights about traveler categories and behavior (for example, spending patterns or preferences common to a travel style) with business partners — this never includes your name, contact information, or anything that identifies you individually

Your taste profile and reviews are stored on our servers to power your personalized recommendations. You can reset your profile at any time from the You tab → Redo onboarding.
